The Good News is I don't have strep throat!

The bad news is I feel like shit run over twice before it was struck by lightning...

semi-overcast

OK so it's been a long time since I've updated. Right at this minute it's about 10:50pm and I've gotten out of bed to come and use the computers. At 11:10pm when my time runs out, I'm gonig back to bed. I've been in bed all day. Luckily, a nurse thrust a swab down my throat and we discovered that I am strep free. Thank God. I have a very slight fever, a helluva sore throat and a bad headache, not to mention I feel tired all the damn time. But the flu is goin' round so I guess that's what you get when you live in close quarters with 16 other people.
I took the Miriam girls to a softball comp yesterday. We lost the first game. 24 - 0. Scary. The second game was much better. 11 - 0. Whoo! We actually made three outs in one innings so that was something to celebrate. heh. Golan have a game this Friday, and then Esther next Wednesday. Wheet. Hopefully we'll hit up Maccas or Dairy Queen or Dunkin' Donuts on the way back from one of those games.
I've switched my day off to Saturday this week (due to the softball game Friday) and me, Melissa & J and anyone else that wants to split a cab fare are going to Middletown to see Harry Potter 5. It didn't show at the theatre at Milford. Some stupid animation bout a rat was showing, and now The Simpsons movie is there. Anyways, my last day off was freakin' awesome. We got some beers, and some Midori and some vodka and drank it all at the jokingly titled Milford Beach. It's the Delaware river. We then got more beers and drank them while playing Kings (or as the kiwis call it "Circle of Death.") I also broke a bike while mountain bike riding. I dunno wtf happened but it don't go no more. hehe.

Ummm, what else has been happening? Oh, it's now officially second session. There's something like 17 days of camp left. Moved into a new bunk, got new kids. Most of them are just as awesome as the first sessioners, but a few seem to have sticky fingers & I've lost $60, and Zeb has lost $40 to the sneaky little shits. We also confiscated a portable dvd player this evening as well as a bunch of mobile phones. Yes, I'm still saying mobile phones. And jumpers instead of sweatshirts. And thongs instead of flip flops. I've all but run out of vegemite, which is traumatic. But I have, unfoteunately, become addicted to peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches. But only the grape jelly. Not the strawberry. That made me wanna puke.

What else what else....

Camp is just camp at the moment. I'm working 15 hour days, 6 days a week for what we worked out to be $1.65/hr. Oh yeah. The joys of summer camp. I nearly had a meltdown yelling at Centre Sleepaway kids the other day. Centre Sleepaway is a part of our camp but it's for kids that only come Mon - Fri and then go home over the weekend. They are the rudest, most disrespectful kids I have ever met. And after umpiring softball for them I now refuse to work with them.

But anyways, I'm running out of time. I'll try and update lots more before the end of camp coz after that I dunno when I will be able to again.

Carmen, expect something in the post soon. Just for you. You'll love it, I promise.
Steve....if you're gonig to send me e-mails like that.....don't. :-P Made me giggle my arse off, though.

Love you all heaps, hopefully everything is going well at home and you all miss me horribly.

Bohemian Lip Synching

Days Off Kick Arse!

-17 °C

Been having a ball at camp recently. Just finished the final of our great Lip Synching extravaganza tonight. The kids did things like Backstreet Boys, Chicago, Hairspray, etc etc. The only counsellors to perform were, of course, me, Zeb, J & Mayaan. The Responsibily Ridiculous Counsellors of Bunk 52. We did Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, and it was just so much fun. We called ourselves the Queen Mimes, dressed in black, painted our hands white and put funny little drawings on our faces in liquid eyeliner. Our dance lasted the whole entire song, all 5 minutes & 55 seconds, and the kids seemed to get a real kick out of it. If I can remember it when I get back I'll show all of you. LOL!

My day off was pretty freaking sweet!!! Australian counsellor Briar & Kiwi counsellor Nikki managed to borrow a car from an American and took me along with Israeli counsellor Katia into Milford. We shopped. At crappy places. Managed to spend about $140- Oh dear. But got 2 pairs of sh orts, 2 tank tops and 2 t-shirts. One of which says "I'm a Jeans n t-shirt kinda gal," which was highly appropriate for the dance that night. lol. But I also managed to buy a pair of sunnies, coz i left the brand new pair I bought at Melbourne airport at LAX when they had to use the wand on me when I made the metal detector go off. So I have sunnies now. Yay. And more clothes.
We wanted to go see the new Harry Potter movie but the Milford theatre only shows one film and it was some Ratatouille thing or something. I dunno. It was too late in the day to drive into Middletown so we figured screw it. We went to the diner and ate REAL food on REAL plates with REAL cutlery. I also ate roast pork. Hahahha. After that we managed to get our hands on some $6 vodka. Very gross. Tasted like metho. Ewwwwwww. But daaamn. So good. hehehe. Naughty me, I know. But smeh. Gotta bend the rules sometimes. Especially the stupid ones. Bloody 21 my butt!
Dunno what we're doin' next day off. Hopefully going into Middletown to see Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix.

I've told the kids that they can't tell me anything about the final Harry Potter book when it comes out or else they have to sleep on the porch with no mattress or bug spray. LOL!

it's almost the end of first session, which means heaps of our campers are leaving and we'll be getting new ones in! It's both sad and also very very good coz some of the campers, by gum, I wanna smack em.

That reminds me! It was VIsiting Day on Sunday. Oh. My. God. You understand the kids SOOOO much more after you meet their parents!!!! I was stuck directing cars all day. In the hot sun and then in the pouring rain. I swear the weather is just like home. But yeah, some of the drivers got very irate when I was telling them where to park. It was very, very insane.

But yes, on changeover day - between sessions that is, I'll hopefully get to go to Hershey's. Yes, Hershey's the chocolate company have an amusement park. Why? I dunno. Sounds bloody stupid to me, but I like chocolate and I like roller coasters so fun should be had if I get to go.

The kids in my bunk are really excited coz they have an Organised Bunk Hop tonight. Basically it means that instead of bunk hopping in the dead of night while everyones asleep (usually to see boys), we've organised to let them have a bit of a sleepover with a boys bunk with counsellors present on the soccer field. They were bouncing off the walls when I left.

Oh god, on Visiting day the parents brought so much candy & stuff. We ate ourselves crazy. I have the most hillarious photos.

Speaking of photos, I'm hoping to go into the Milford library and post my photos then. It takes a long time to upload so I'll see how it goes.

Anyways, people are gettin' a bit antsy for their turn on the computer. Which is understandable, coz 20 minutes is just not enough time.

I'll update as soon as I can.

Lots of love & kisses to everybody!

STEEL FORCE

Dorney Park Trip

sunny 20 °C

Man, today we went to an amusement park called Dorney Park and it was awesome. I hung out with some of my favourite kids and rode rollercoasters and went on water rides and ate BACON. And meat & cheese together! Hock shorror!!! Man, the bacon was soooo good. I bought a pretty necklace thing, too, and actually came home with change. hehe. Strange.
Last night our bunks had to organise a lip synch competition and us counsellors (me, Zeb, J & Mayaan) did a lip synch to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and made all the girls laugh their butts off. It was great. We're going to perform in front of everybody in Golan & Masada.
Tomorrow's my day off and I have no idea what I'm doing besides sleeping in. I'm probably gonna go back to the bunk soon, because my computer time is up and I've got like, nothing else to do. It's really crowded in here and I hate it when people read over my shoulder as I'm typing.
But yeah, Dorney Park was nuts. Steel Force was the best rollercoaster coz the drop was so big. But I also went on a cool one called The Talon and one called Hydra: The Revenge. They were all awesome. We got wet coz it's also a water park.
The kids are really cool, still. There's one or two that are just driving me the hell crazy. Man, I just wanna scream at em. And there's one girl I just wanna give a backbone too. And some face cleanser. And a toothbrush. Then she'd be fine. She'd be a geek, but fine.
Well, my time is just about up so I better piss off. Wish I could sit here and upload my photos but it takes far too long and smugmug is blocked on here anyways, which sux major butt. I'll try and upload to facebook or myspace or something. Maybe tomorrow on my day off. Maybe in town in the library. But I'd rather do more exciting stuff on my day off.
Anyways, yeah, catch ya all again soon. I hope.

Stolen comptuer time is intensity in ten cities.

26 °C

Yo whassup im back again! whoo! I can't remember what I said last time.

Staff Week

Staff Week was some goddamn hard work!!! We were either doing a helluva lot in very little time, or doing very little. We spent a lot of time sitting on cold concrete floors listening to different people give almost exactly the same speech over and over again. It wasn't fun. The rest of it we spent doing heavy lifting. Being on the athletic staff (ha!) I helped clean out the gymnasium. Clean the gymnasium. Set up the gymnasium. Draw a softball field with no measuring tape or line marker. Clean the basketball courts and also clean out the guitar room which was filled with athletic crap. Did have heaps of fun when we weren't working though. Lots of singing. Which was weird. Singing camp songs, our division songs. The camp is divided into six divisions, 3 boys and 3 girls. 7th grade boys & girls - Joseph & Miriam. 8th grade boys & girls - Reuben & Esther and 9th grade boys & girls - Masada & Golan. I am in Golan. We are the best div in CLC. :D we have the best chants, songs and the best trips and other stuff. lol Staff week we sang and screamed and everything just to be silly. We had a steak party one night where we go down to the NJW pool and eat steak and go in the pool and they have a dj and we dance adn stuff. it's ok.

Kid's Arrive

The day the kids arrived was shyte. We stood in the hot sun welcoming the bussses and then taking kids to lice check and then delivering them to their bunks over and over and over. Then we had to haul their luggage in! They don't even do that themselves!!! It was slave labour. But also fun riding around in the back of the truck with a hott english guy and a hot taiwainese guy. lol. As we met the kids from our bunk, I was pretty impresssed. They're very different but each one of em's a nut case and they are so much fun.

There's so much more to say but I am running out of time like crazy. I wanna type for like 3 days, and I wanna show ecveryone the photos of the fun we've been havnig. Like the time I got really badly sunburnt and then later that same day got caught in a rain storm and got soaked through. And the photos of the 4th of July fireworks we had on the 8th of July! It's also really beautiful here. The lake is amazing. I haven't been in yet coz I'm always with athletics. I have a very full day. I get to leave camp quite often, too, on trips to other camps for comps and tournaments. We secretly stop at Maccas or Dairy Queen on the way back. Maccas is so weird here. Everything is so much bigger than Aust. Cept the burgers. The burgers are gross. The buns are weird and they are so small. You get free refills though. lol. But getting out of camp is awesome. I had my first day off the other day, too, but I was not well. Not bad, but not good enough to go into town. I think it was just not enough sleep and doing too much without a decent break. I get Fridays off but I'm trying to switch to Saturday. Hopefully, I will be able to coz most of my friends here ahve Saturdays off. Also my kids sometimes have softball games on Fridays. The head of sport is werid. Anyways, better sign off before I get an extra night on Bunk Duty. It's an early night but the kids are insane. They give them sugar righ tbefore bed.

Love you alll so much.

Kirstyn.

It's Been A Looooooong Time

CLC computers suck butt`

sunny 33 °C

why hello all my faithful readers. *ahem* it's been like 3 weeks and i haven't made a single post while i've bveen in the good old us of a. and im gonna b filled with spelling mistakes and shorthand typin coz i only hv 20 mintues and i hve no idea when im gonna get on again. so yeah. the cmoputer issue sux here. the food sux here. but most other stuff is of average or only marginally sub par valyue. that made no sense.
ok ok, here we go.
staff week was awesome. lots of work. havent sweated so much in my life. havent met so many people in my life. there are so many internatiobnals here that it's just nyuts. we had parties and stuff on camp. there are three camps here. nah jee wah (NJW) Cedar Lake Camp (CLC) and Teen Age Camp (TAC). im at clc. for 11 to 14 year olds. kids entering years 7 8 or 9. im with the 9th grade girls. i have a good bunk. they're a bunch of nut cases but then so am i and so are the other counsellors with them.
im surprised but ive had more trouble with the international campers than anyone else. they are so spoiled! they think they can do anything they want whenever they want and here it's just not like that. they want to know why they have to be at lineup at like 830am and why they cant have food in the bunks and why they cant hang out and talk with the boys until the wee small hours of the morning. oh my god. the boys. the boys are mostly good. some of them are absolutely disgusting and all of them smell hella bad. and all they wanna do is hang with the girls and try to get blowjobs. and all the girls wanna do is get boyfriends and walk around in almost nothing,. and eat candy. my god they can eat so much candy.
but anyweay. the sport head. amera, is from israel. god theres so many freakin israelis here. nothin wrong with it but damn lots. anyway amera is afrom israel has bad english and is completely disorganised. sent me to three wrong camps after almost sending to a boys camp for a softball tournament the other day. i was SOOO pissed off.
only have ten minuites. everything is cool. we're going to an amusement park on thursday. should be good. rollercoasters!!!! wooo!
im gonna go ive got a thousand emails to look at!
